Eliminate Addictions

Addiction is a primary, chronic, neurobiologic disease, with genetic, psychosocial, and environmental factors. It is characterized by behaviors that include one or more of the following: impaired control over substance or behavior, compulsive use or behavior, and continued use or behavior despite harm to self and others.

Addiction is a compulsion to repeat a behavior regardless of its consequences. The medical community makes a distinction between physical dependence (characterized by symptoms of withdrawal) and psychological addiction (or simply addiction). However, the two kinds of addiction are not always easy to distinguish because they often have both physical and psychological components. Some common addictions include: alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex, computers, and shopping.

Dealing with addictions is a complex issue. Utilizing programs and options that are beneficial in facilitating and supporting recovery may include:

  • Turning unproductive behaviors into positive actions to insure long-term success.
  • Adjusting and improving their lifestyle to overcome previous vulnerabilities and failures.
  • The addict and family members participating in support groups.

Q: How Does Hypnotherapy Help?

A: Hypnotherapy is a very natural and yet powerful technique of focused relaxation that can allow you to take control of your life and to build a brighter, more positive future. It is a client centered process, in which the specific issues of the individual are addressed based on their particular needs, problems, goals, motivations, and triggers. As you become more deeply relaxed, the subconscious is free to explore psychological or emotional issues. It is then able to accept a series of positive suggestions that allow you to become stronger and more effective in dealing with whatever problem or negative behavior you are experiencing or want to change or eliminate. The changes begin almost immediately because, through the increased strength and focus of your subconscious mind, you are more in control and aware of the positive aspects that the changes in behavior will provide.

Q: How Many Visits Will I Need?

A: You will begin to feel more in control during your first visit. We provide an audio CD recording of the hypnosis session that you can continue to use nightly to increase your motivation and resolve to overcome the addiction. We will also explore constructive, pro-active ways of handling vulnerabilities and challenging situations that increase your feelings of confidence and self control.

You will return for a second visit in approximately 10-14 days. We will review your progress and incorporate additional suggestions into a new hypnosis session to facilitate continued progress. Subsequent sessions are determined by the client and the Hypnotherapist based on the clients needs and progress.
